TOPIC: What's this from?

Re: What's this from? 14 years 7 months ago #19710

That looks like the HVAC unit, Ed, but if it is a water heater, think how close and convenient it is for the shower!

You know, it almost looks like new ductwork attached to old ductwork. What do you think?

Well. I try not to think, but if I thought about this one I don't see any ductwork.  I think you are looking at an AC system's coils, set up on wood blocks, ostensibly so it will drain into the pan under the furnace, perhaps with another AC coil on top.  It is hard to tell from these photos.

Yeah, it is tough to tell. But I think you're right, it does have that appearance.

To answer your burning questions, The gas heater was original. They came in after the fact and added the heat pump. The metal you see is the evaporator coil. I looks like they fabed their own box for it. Every seam was leaking nice cool air because they never taped around the edges. The hvac guy spent less than five minutes looking at the gas funace and said that it was pretty much toast. So I got santa to come early for this lady. The photos were tough. I had very little room to back up and take a good picture.
