TOPIC: Report writing Quality and Speed

Re: Report writing Quality and Speed 15 years 10 months ago #7184

My problem is not with the tabs.

It is the way my damage panel verbiage is set up.

To many lines to look at. The . for the space works well. Good idea.

Today's inspection with 85 photos was 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Plus another 30 to get towed out of a snowy drive.

Did you add a caption to all 85 photos? Did you type them in, or use the drop down box? How did you split up your 1 hour 45 min.

Yes I add captions to all my photos and I use the drop down boxes, but I usually shorten the comments as I think it is repetitive if the damage panel and the photo say the same exact words.

It takes me anywhere from 30-60 minutes to do the selection/damage, 15-30 minutes for photos and 15 minutes to proof read.

Are you drawing arrows, adding text and doing other things to your photos? 30 min seems like quite awhile for just 85 photos. It should take about 5 minutes to set them to print at the right spot. 10 minutes or so for the captions.

Arrows on most photos. No text.

Ok, well I wouldn't count proof reading as really part of the report creating time as that's never going to change. So really you're looking right now at 45-90 minutes of report writing time. I did look at your template and you do have a lot of tabs, some of which I think can be removed.

Out of all the narratives you added to your last inspection, what % do you think were new comments you had to write?

I would say 50%. 25% is editing the ones I already have.

I would also say 75% of thepicture captions I edit as well.

Why do ou say I have to many tabs? What are your suggestions to edit or remove?

I've used the template that came with HIP when I got it a few months back.  I like it and I've built on it.  I like the idea of opening a completed inspection because it could make the inspection go much more quickly but I tend to drive the square-wheeled car every inspection.  I get used to peeing blood and can't get away from it. Paradigm?

I think I'll go through and save different templates.  Maybe one as  REO property, another as Pre-1989 (or whatever) and another, maybe five total.  Then going through each and modifying it to meet my trended and expected need could make things faster.

What do you think?
