TOPIC: Minding My Own Business, And The Phone Rings

Re: Minding My Own Business, And The Phone Rings 15 years 9 months ago #7781

That's awesome Jay. I hope you get it, it'll make a great HIP story :) In fact, it matches up nicely with the 1000 home inspections that Cody Briggs got in Texas based off his reports (and he's still doing them!).

Even with help, he'll be doing the 1000 for a long time!  I'm so jealous!  lol

Actually he's got to get them done pretty quickly. But they're structure only so he's been doing up to 5 a day.

My question is why do they want them in every class room?
I'm not familiar with the exact protocols, but seems if radon is in the building, it's in the building and would need to be mitigated.

Is a kid in classrom A exposed to Radon if his clasroom is found "clear" but rooms B, C and D are >4.0?

You could be a hero and eductae the educators, if this is indeed the case.

Pricing - hmmm. Normaly $150?

Maybe $75-$125 per unit or $XXX per school + $XX per unit.

That's the question Rick!  What to price this at.

The Virginia protocol requires a test in each classroom, or trailer, with ground contact.  They may also request various tests (1/2,000 sq ft) in larger rooms, like cafeterias, offices, locker rooms and gyms and upper levels.  Kitchens do not need tests.  Those are the EPA protocols too, which is probably where Virginia got them.

They told me to expect as many as 2,000 tests needing to be done total in the 35 schools.  That's an average of 57 per school.  I will apparently be one of three bids.

Lots of thinking to do.
