TOPIC: The National Home Inspection Exam (NHIE)

Getting ready to take the NHIE exam. Can any HI tell me from experience what questions I should be looking out for and what reference materials I can study for this test. Thanks....I need all the help I can get!

Carson Dunlop put a book that I saw awhile back. I'm not sure if it was just for their students or if it's publicly available. There's also quite a few course online you can take to study. From what I've been told you can expect it to be a test on everything that exists nationwide. So you'll be tested on items that you'd never see in TN which makes it a bit harder.

I have the book you are talking about. So that is why the exam is harder because they are using conditions established in other states. Very interesting. How would this book help if it is a standard book of basic home inspector questions and then the exam has trick questions pertaining to another state? Doesn't sound fair at all

The book helps because it has questions and info on problems across the country. The test is used across the country for state licensing, ASHI membership and by other associations. So it's a one test fits all strategy. Why the states use it, who knows! It doesn't make sense to test guys on problems they will never come across.

OK Dominic..Thanks! It time to get the book out and study it throughly. I have also been studying the NACHI examination for members only. It is very helpful too.
