TOPIC: Finally moving from XP to 8.1 and need to know what to do.

I have the computer up and running now and I want to back it up. The problem is that I can open everything EXCEPT HIP. I keep getting error messages saying "cannot create Java Virtual Machine" or "JVM could not be started. The maximum heapsize may be too large or antivirus or fire wall tool could block the execution". I have tried uninstalling Java and reinstalling it but it won't install. If I back up the computer will HIP be backed up because it is still installed? I'm way over my head here and I realize I should have been backing up all along. Any advise?

Something is haunted. I shouldn't have tried to update my computer and HIP at the same time. My email is not working now. I just want to add the inspection manually but I can't get my photos to load.
