Dominic, is the hi res screen worth the extra cost? Xp being dropped from Microsoft for support, is Windows 7 the right choice for thhis unit? 2 gb ram? Thanks for your input. George

Hi George,
Welcome to the boards. XP will be supported by Microsoft for another 2 years, they extended the deadline. The HI res screen is nice and it's only $30 extra. Using the HIP coupon code and it's only $10. It's definitely not necessary though. Windows 7 works great. Get 2 gigs of ram if you like to take a ton of photos or if you're using the tablet for more than just Home Inspector Pro. |

WOW you work late weekends!! What do you think about 32 bit or 64 bit Windows 7? Matt seems to think Windows 7 has a better touch screen mode. George

How incompatible is Windows 7 with existing programs. I run five or six programs at a time when I'm doing my report. Some of these are old programs and I have no inclination to upgrade every one of them to Windows 7 (if that's necessary).
I was told by a computer rep that was using a tablet in a store I was visiting that Windows 7 professional will run XP compatible programs without any problem. Is there any problems encountered with running XP on seven? |

George, I'm always working late 64 bit is faster for certain applications, on others it'll be the same. For HIP you won't notice much of a difference as it's efficient to start with. Windows 7 does have a better touch screen interface, especially if you get Professional or higher.
David, I've only heard of a few guys having problems. If you purchase Windows 7 Professional or higher, it actually includes a virtual copy of XP that can be downloaded at www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx which ensures that you'll have no problems. |
