TOPIC: New 10" CTL 2go Tablet

Re: New 10" CTL 2go Tablet 13 years 11 months ago #37052

Hey Robert. How long ago did you buy the HP?

If you ever have a problem, talk to Matt or myself (who will contact Matt). He takes care of all our guys. Tech support probably got it and it worked so they sent it back.

I just got the HP about 2 weeks ago.  It works fantastic.  I3 Processor, 500 GB hard drive, 3 Gigs memory.  I really like the hand writing recognition with Win7.  I have tried a few tablets with XP and just about gave up on it.  With Win 7, I can finally use it.

I would never have bought it though if I wasn't so frustrated with the 2GoPc.  The support techs almost had me convinced that the problem was the atom processor in the 2Go.  I didn't completely believe them but was afraid to buy anything with one until I was sure.  I spent about 6 months trying to make it work and more emails to support than I care to think about.

If I get the 2Go to work properly, I will still use it a fair amount.

Talked to Dom about this earlier, he said to post here:

The new 2Go says it will be 3G capable.  Several points...who is going to be the provider for that service?  And with 4G coming out by Verizon in a month or so (have a friend that works for them), isn't this going to be outdated before you can blink?

Any comments from Matt would help!  Thanks!

The NL2 is 3G capable for sure, and the provider depends on who you want to go with, as there are 3G/4G cards for pretty much everyone.  4G cards should be/are available in card types that will work with this model.  3G vs. 4G really is no different in hardware, moreso it is a difference in the type of network it runs on and how fast it is.

We have tested the unit on AT&T, T-mobile, Verizon, and have some customers using it on Sprint, so there is no limitation there.  We just have not found a card to offer directly that we want to sign off on yet due to several factors.  We have to weigh the cost of the actual card, cost of the service, and quality of service before making a conclusion on which card to stock, but you are certainly free to go with whoever you choose as long as you can find an internal card that is offered.  Of course, if you go with an external USB card, then there is no limitation on what you can use or who you can go with.

Also, don't forget that only the high resolution version has a spot internally for a 3G/4G card.  The standard version would have to use USB.

Matt, awesome info!  That helps a lot, since it seems when you buy a computer, in a week or so, something new comes out that's better!  ;)  Thank you!

I was looking forward to the 10 " tablet but I have been having problems with the 9" one.  I have had it since April and have only been able to complete about 6 or 7 inspections on it.  About half way through the inspection, the screen loses calibration and gets so bad that I can't continue.  I have to pull out the old fashioned paper to complete the inspection.  I have gone round and round with tech support and even sent it back to them to check out.  Same problem.

One of the techs said that it worked better with win 7 so I bought a copy and installed it.  Same problem.  I have reinstalled both win 7 and XP so many times I can do it in my sleep but the problem remains.  The last 2 emails I sent to tech support went unanswered.

I finally got so frustrated I bought an HP TM2t.  It is working great but I would still like to get the 2Go to work right.

Robert,

Send me the serial number of the unit and your return address to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will have our RMA guy process the unit for a replacement for you on Monday when we are back in the office.  For your troubles, I will have them send you a free 2go laptop backpack.  It is not much, but it is a $50 product and the least I can do for your issues.

I have seen this issue before a couple times, and it is a defective panel.  Sometimes they work ok for a bit, but eventually it will act up again.  Seems to have something to do with how the panel communicates to the software.

If anyone else runs into this issue on the original convertible classmate and contacts tech support about it, please let them know to process it for replacement per my instructions and direct them to me if they have any questions.

I have been having this problem with the replacement unit you guys sent me.  Its only happened 4 or 5 time.  I have to save the inspection then restart the computer then recalibrate the screen to get it to work right.  I will call tech support tomorrow and see what they say.
