Windows 7 professional. I must be doing something wrong because I don't have a list of words that pops up. The time saved by writing it on the screen is offset by the time it takes to correct errors.

Okay, Win7 Pro is using Windows built in handwriting recognition software. Win7 Starter uses a separate program that has the words popup. Read over
www.itechtalk.com/thread6606.html
on how to train the Win7 Pro program.

I went through these handwriting recognition exercises two times. I am curious though if I am still having problems, will just writing in HIP help the program to recognize my handwriting or does improvement only happen by submitting the execises again (and again.)

I looked over
windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Str...dwriting-recognition
. I can't find a specific answer but since it's not on the list of ways to improve recognition, I'm going to guess the answer is no.

Thanks for that link Dominic. This link led me to
windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-vist...ation-on-a-Tablet-PC
. Here there is a paragraph on Automatic Learning. I'll have to check out if that option is on or of but it makes me think that it is a possibility. So little time to play with the tablet. I ques that is better than having all kinds of time to play.

Ahh, good find!!
Automatic learning Automatic learning collects data about the words you use and how you write them. If you turn on automatic learning, it enables the handwriting recognizer to learn your handwriting style and vocabulary. Automatic learning for both your handwriting style and your vocabulary might not be available for all languages that include handwriting personalization. To find out which languages currently use automatic learning for handwriting style or vocabulary, see Personalize handwriting recognition for another language. Any data collected by automatic learning is stored in your user profile and is not sent to Microsoft. To learn about what data is stored and how it is used, go to the Handwriting Recognition Personalization section of our privacy statement. You can turn automatic learning on or off at any time in Control Panel, in Tablet PC Settings. Open Tablet PC Settings by tapping the Start button Picture of the Start button, tapping Control Panel, tapping Mobile PC, and then tapping Tablet PC Settings. |
