Strange, I haven't had it crash on me once. Did you give CTLCorp a call and ask about it? More than likely they have an update.
I'd say that saving yourself 2 1/2 hours is a hell of a time saver. I'm assuming you are finishing almost the entire thing on site now. |

Yes the only thing I don't finish on site are the pictures and proofing the report. I think I could do that on site if I really wanted to but there is no point as I would still have to go find a WIFI to upload the report.
Seems the program crashes mainly when I close it up and it goes into hibernation mode. Then if I open it back up and turn it back on, its crashed on me. Also if I change screen orientation a lot, it will crash too. And no I haven't called them, so far I don't use it enough to really be bothered by it. 2 1/2 hours is a hell of a time saver!!!! I cant think of a better buy for my business at this time. Getting into real estate has really made me focus on time, time scheduling, and time saving ideas. I would recommend every inspector make this move as early as they can. |

I had the handwriting software crash a few times in the beginning but not since. But then using your description as a guide:
1. I don't close the unit up once I start using it. I just put it in tablet mode and leave it. 2. I turned out the "auto change" orientation since it was changing when I did not want it to. Maybe that is why I am not seeing the same problems any more. |

I'd also make sure you close the writing program before it hibernates. A lot of programs have issues going in and out of hibernation. Julians right, it could be the auto rotate. You can manually rotate using the icon in the bottom right corner.

Last week I emailed CTL with a list of questions regarding the CTL2GO Tablet pc---last night I finally got a return email with answers so I thought I would post it here for those who are interested.
Robert, I apologize for any delay in answering your questions, it looks like your HelpDesk ticket that you submitted did not filter to the correct department. You will find answers to all of the questions below: I am considering the purchase of the CTL 2GO Convertible Classmate PC 8.9" Laptop/Tablet with Hard Drive with Windows XP Home with an upgrade to 2 GB of Ram. Please let me know what comes in the box- Netbook, battery, AC power cord, stylus, and quick start manual. Is there a car charger available? Yes, there is an inverter that can be used in the card to power and charge this netbook. You can find it on our website at this link: www.ctlcorp.com/v4/p-525-cyberpower-in-c...-adapter-deluxe.aspx Does the extended warranty have to be purchased at the time of the original sale or can I purchase an extended warranty within 30-60 or 90 days after I receive the unit? The warranty option must be chosen at the time of purchase. I have heard some users are having trouble with the handwriting recognition program (it keeps crashing) is this a common problem and if so something that can be corrected? I have seen very few people having this issue, a handful at most. Every time users have this issue, it has been resolved by re-installing the software, which is located on our website for download. I have heard of users having problems with the accelerometer not working properly and they constantly have to reboot their computer, is this on ongoing problem with the software? This is an occasional issue that was happening with an older version of the driver package for this unit. The Device Control Package as it is called, has been updated to a newer version due to this issue. I have heard a 10 inch version of this product may be coming, if so when is that going to be released? Intel has not yet released any information about a 10 inch model at this time that I am aware of. I believe it may be speculation for now. We are an Intel Channel Partner, and if a 10 inch unit is going to make it to production, they will be sure to make us aware of it. On the website it states if I upgrade to 2GB of ram Microsoft Works 9.0 will not be installed-why is that? This is due to Microsoft licensing issues. The Ultra Low Cost PC License Windows XP Home license that you will find on most netbook PCs is offered by Microsoft at a small cost, but Microsoft governs what kind of hardware can be in a system such as this, and they require that it be a very basic system in terms of hardware. In order to be able to upgrade to 2GB, your Windows license has to be upgraded to the standard Windows XP license, which has a higher cost, but allows for the freedom to configure your PC any way you want it. Microsoft Works is included by Microsoft on the Low Cost licenses, but not on standard Windows XP licenses. Will other versions of Windows 7 be available or just Windows 7 Starter? Yes, other versions will be available. Is there a specific version that you are interested in? I would be able to provide costing and ETA for you. If I were to order within the next few days when might I expect the unit to be shipped? Typically, once your order has been submitted, it normally takes about four business days for your order to be custom built and shipped. We build each order by hand, and hand test each unit as well to ensure that it does not have any issues prior to shipment. This makes the process a little slower, but it is worth the extra time to ensure that you do not receive a DOA unit.
