TOPIC: What Dynamic Content Variables Would You Add Into Program

What Dynamic Content Variables Would You Add Into Program 15 years 6 months ago #12692

Hi Guys,

I've had an inspector ask me to add a feature for dynamic variables into the program. For example in a document you could write:
Dear $clientName and the name would be pulled from the Client Info page and automatically inserted. This feature wouldn't be too difficult to insert. If we add this, what items would you want access to, and could you see any use for it within narratives as well?

If you did do something like this, I would think the Customer Name, Inspected Address, maybe the Realtor might be the most logical start.

You know what would be really cool?  If you had the customer name print just below the customer signature on the contract page.

That's purposely not on there. In many cases the client is not on site to sign the report. It could be the agent, it could be a friend or an attorney. That's why your name is there and there's isn't. We will have a signature feature added in shortly to sign on a tablet though.

Other items?
Inspection Cost?
Inspection Date?

Dominic, how would something like that work (or could it work) if you use your own contract?

It might be nice to have some text on the summary (maybe a thank you or explanation of the summary) that populated from somewhere else. I can't think of anywhere this would be necessary?

Well the contract right now already auto populates the headers and footers. But rather than refer to them as 'the client' in the contract you could replace it with $clientName and have the actual name inserted automatically.

This is useful for guys who like to write an opening letter for example in their inspection. Rather than edit a document each time they could enter Dear $clientName and the program would automatically pull the client name from the Client Info page and print it on the PDF. I could also see it being useful on an invoice page or maybe even in the general info narratives.
