TOPIC: New Website...I think I'm getting there!

Re: New Website...I think I'm getting there! 15 years 7 months ago #10485

Remove GSI and update it under Site Information (contains the home page URL).

Never get rid of the old domain name. You can move it put age is golden!

Got it, thanks Dom...forgot about the site info url.

I hear you about not getting rid of the old domain, I realize the value of the age. Would it be possible, once I am happy with the new site, to switch one of the old domain names over to that new site, and then work on a new site with the new name? For example, my new domain I am working on here is myindianapolishomeinspector.com, would it be possible to switch my old domain gsinspect.com over and make it the new site, then start working on another new site with the myindianapolishomeinspector.com domain? If that makes sense....

Bryan I think the site is coming along pretty well. I linked both of them today. With  your Meta keywords you may want to consider adding: Home Inspector, Home Inspection, Certified Home Inspector, to your list of cities.

Here is my link info. I am in two different states

I'm still trying to figure out this link swapping thing, as far as what info to include....seems like everyones (that I've seen) is a little different.

Thanks for the links. Yes I agree everyone has something different to put down for keywords and info. I try to pay attention to the advice of Dominic, five cities and Home inspector, Home inspection in the keywords. There are a lot of guys with just a URL and company name, I have added keywords to their links for them when I link their site. If they don't do its themselves all might be for naught.

Another really good piece of advice that Dominic has given out is to add city specific pages to your site with some feel good info and links (town, school syst.,ect) to your site. I even added slide shows if images relevant to the town. The images are courtesy of Google and Yahoo!  :-X  You can see on my NJ site and the inspiration comes from Rick Mayday at Owl Home Inspections.  www.owlhomeinspections.com/

I know this stuff works because because in a short time my site went from internet obscurity to first page of MSN live search and second page of both Google and Yahoo within a month.

Good luck with the site.
