TOPIC: Firefox incompatibility

Firefox incompatibility 15 years 2 months ago #20820

Dominic,

I know when I added my most recent website, I was having issues working on it in Firefox.  You said to try IE.

I wanted to let you know that now if I happen to be in Firefox and login to either of my sites, I can edit every page EXCEPT the home page.  That's never happened before.

FYI

Bruce

That just means your browser is caching the page. Right click on the page, hold the shift key and click refresh. It can happen in any browser that thinks it's being smart by saving you download time.

There's no inherent problems with Firefox, or IE, it's just plugins that can interfere with their operation which is why I say if one doesn't work well, use the other.

That did it.  you're so smart.

What is that called?  Why is it different than just refreshing the page?

When you hold shift and refresh is FORCES the page to connect to the net and get the most up to date code. When you just click refresh it only updates if it thinks it should.

I tend to switch between Firefox and Safari when working on my page. But I have found some weird issues that are annoying at times. Anytime I am adding content in firefox and I press enter/return (Mac) it acts like a pageup bottom and shoots me up to the top of the webpage. Safari doesn't do this however. But on both browsers bullets are super hard to get working. In firefox the bullet button just simply doesn't work for me, and in Safari the bullet will work... sordof. Often I get a slow script error and it fills my page with tons of empty space between my content.

I do wish they still made IE for Macs. I may try finding other, more simple browsers to see if this helps.

I've noticed how Firefox causes the jump too. I believe that doesn't happen in the new editor, I'd have to check. Don't know why bullets wouldn't work in FF, they work okay for me in Windows. Make sure you're not copying any page content from MS Word as that will screw things up.
