I figure that's what summaries are for.

If you have 4 different receptacles that do not operate in 4 different bedrooms will your summary list it 4 separate times in each bedroom section? Mine lists it one time with all the locations.

I find that the easiest way for my clients and myself is to use a modified System by System report. ? By modified I separate out bathrooms, the kitchen, the garage, the attic, the crawlspace/basement, and the exterior. ? Systems like Plumbing, Electrical, Roof, HVAC, are in their own sections. ?

Why Bathrooms are separate and not in Plumbing? I think it is easier for the client to see what needs to be done in each bathroom. The overall plumbing including hot water systems. supply and waste lines are in the general Plumbing section. ? An electrical issue in the Kitchen will be listed in the Electrical section but if I want to say the food grinder has an electrical problem, I could note it as well in the Kitchen section but that does not happen often....  A leaking dishwasher is listed in the Kitchen section as is a leaking kitchen sink drain line.

To me the Room by Room sounds good and makes sense on paper but not in the field or in the final report.

The InterNACHI Narrative template is a hybrid. It's broken into systems, but I don't see any point in scrolling all the way back to Electrical to enter a common problem in a particular room, outside, or in the garage, basement, crawlspace, or attic, so each of those has outlet, light, switch and junction box problems (or any other common to each area) listed in those sections. Those comments should wind up in the summary anyway. The Electrical section is service drop (or lateral), mast, meter, service panel, sub-panel, branch circuits, etc.

Same with various plumbing components. Problems with undersink plumbing in the laundry room go in the Laundry Room section.

Yup, exactly what the summary is for! And Mike, you're talking about something completely different now. What's best for the electrician is not necessarily what's best for the client!

Scott is using a Hybrid too which is perfect.

I recently had Kenton critic my report. My current style is like Mike M. ( I like all the electrical in the section, just like he states, for the electrician)

I have an I pad mini, want to go mobile. No way in heck for me with my current style. It is not cost affective as it limits my inspection(s).

I have seen Kentons template & narratives and I would say it would be a bear looking at in mobile version.

I am up for ideas to change my style to be able to go mobile. My current template blows for mobile.

I have been trying to create a AHIT HIP room by room template but I do not like reporting every defect in a room that is repeated.

I would love to have the software be able to be set up in a room by room format but be able to place in a system or hybrid format.

Ex. Exterior has the electrical that is in the exterior template but software can be choosen to place in the specific section. (electrical)

Like I said I am up for ideas to help me be more productive an earn more $$$.
