Dom, the ejector is used in areas that have basemnts mostly. Like Joe said, your sewer lines run on gravity. Those are usually great for main level of the home. But if you put a bathroom in the basement, you need the ejector pump to get the poo up to the sewer line. AKA grind pump, solid waste pump, all work on the same theory.

Just curious, did each of those pumps have a separate outlet to the exterior, or did they manifold together up above? I saw back flow valves on each, but just wondering.

Well, i was not able to discern that- there was so much to get to in the home, i didnt spend too much time on it, except to test each one. Each one discharged a certain volume, so they must have been utilized for separate functions. This guy took every precaution, so im guessing one was for a perimeter drain tile system, one was for surface/seepage, ... maybe one was only for laundry tub and appliances.. |

How big was the home and just how much plumbing was in the basement Joe?
Inquiring minds wonder ....did the downspouts extend out and was he in a flood plane??? |

Not much more plumbing than usual - The House was a modest sized ranch ,2 bathrooms plus the toilet in basement, it was in beautiful Park Ridge ...! the guy was the owner of a hvac company. It seemed like he got frequent special service deals with other trades people. Picture shows how the downspouts were set up.. |

I see. The guy obviously needs a dietitian so his waste isn't so large it has to be ground up. I'm guessing those are pretty loud as well?
