Regular asphalt shingles. 

There was no evidence of a problem now but the windows were allowing enough ventilation through the house that moist air wouldn't have a chance to get into the attic.  Windows and doors etc will likely get changed now though.  Tighter house means more moisture in the house.  More moisture in the house means more moisture trying to get into the attic.  (No vapour barrier on the ceiling either.)
