TOPIC: co detectors

co detectors 15 years 8 months ago #9459

Looking for a good quality co detector for home inspections. Asked my HVAC guy and he did say stay away from TPI. He recommended Bacharach at over $500. Do not want to comprimise but is there someting less expensive and reliable with a digital read out?

Check out this place, they have a good selection. I use a Mannix, works good. I forget  how much it costs, but it was less than 500 for sure.

Professional Equipment has everything, though somewhat expensive.

Before you get a detector, you should get some training.  This is a good site, and probably qualifies for any CE Units in any association:

The only way to start shopping is find what brand and model you want.  Enter that in quotes in a Google search and add  craigslist also...... outside the quotes. (i.e.  "Fluke CO detector" Craigslist)

I have bought a new Suretest, new Surveymaster and other slightly used equipment for at least 1/2 price.  Then there is always ebay but they tend to sell higher there than on CL.

Good luck.

There is nothing sweeter than the smell of fresh cut grass on a baseball infield, the click of a wooden bat and the taste of a hot dog at a warm sunny daytime double-header.

Just picked a gently used Bacharach Monoxor III on ebay for $165.00. This usually lists for over $500. I have been watching these for a month or two and waited till the price was right.
