I am a new HIP user and setting up my residential template. Looking for pros and cons for system or room by room reporting.
Thanks |

In large part personal preference. Most guys go with a hybrid of the two. Room by room is easier to do inspecting on site as you have all the items in front of you when you're in the particular room.

I have been using the system template since the git go I would be lost using the room X room. Thinking about going mobile and the Room X room mayhaps be the better choice, learning curves learning curves??????

I hoping Bob Elliot using the latest technology can help myself and others using the HIP software and infield reporting.
I use a hybrid system at this time but due to the large amount of POS homes I struggle doing report in the field. So I take lots of pictures and take a few field notes on my sketch page and then complete report at home. I like the look of system by system but like Dom stated the room by room is easier to do. Dom, Bob, others.... looking for better ways.... so the phone, camera, software to speed it up and keep quality I am in. Whom do I send the check to |

I think I will take it slow to start with on site not use to typing on the phone so I will tether my phone to the lap top and use its keyboard much larger for old crippled hands.
I still like the idea of using my digital camera not the phone camera and just batch them on site into the report window 7 has a good photo resizer that allows loading in the report even faster than hip can resize them |

Ask the Realtors...
Buyers don't care that much. Realtors want fast and smooth look up. If they are working with an electrician, one section of the report is easier to work with rather than 10 pages of room stuff with other than electrical on it. Room x room is more like going through a check list, if your new at this and don't have a system. Go to the kitchen and everything that can be wrong there is in front of you. |
