TOPIC: Which Organization

I was/am aware of the CREIA/ASHI reciprocal agreement for testing... didn't know about combining local chapters.

Are you doing the *CREIA* websites as well? I thought one of the guys told me that.. if so, cool!

I built the new www.creia.org site and launched it this past February. I know several of the chapters I've talked at like Sacramento, San Diego, Orange County were all combined chapters. We're busy here!

I belong to both ASHI and INachi and Dominic hit most of the major advantages of both associations.

I understand Dom's concern on this thread turning into a bashing of associations.

This is one reason I post most of the time on this board as it is moderated. If this post was on the other boards it would quickly turn ugly.

I like both associations and have met great people since I started.

As this board grows I would like to see the response time to a inspection related question increase.
As of now this is one benefit of INachi.

In NC, ASHI has a strong chapter in the Winston Salem area.  They often meet in the Ashboro area on the 3rd Wed of the month.  Marion Peoples and David Jones of the licensing board are active members of this chapter.  Contact Larry Conway for mroe information.

North Carolina Licensed Home Inspector Assoication, NCLHIA, is the largest local association in the state with at least 8 chapters scattered around the state.  They hold annual training sessions at several locations around the state.  They ensure that no training session topic is repeated within a 3 yr cycle as mandated by the licensing board.  They also fund a lobbyist to promote HI friendly legislation and counter RE and Home Builder Assoication laws limiting HIs.  State dues are $150 a year.  Chapter dues vary by chapter.  Of the 1400 licensed inspectors, at least 500 belong to NCHLIA.  You should to.  ;D  At least twice a year, the state licensing board attends the NCHLIA training sessions for their board meetings.  A great way to see the licensing board up close and personal. Visit the website for more details WWW.NCHLIA.COM

InterNACHI is trying to build a chapter along the SC border.  Don't know much about the efforts.

I do not believe NAHI has any NC chapters. 

Choose an association that provides regular ongoing continuing education.  The Triangle chapter of NCHLIA has an outside speaker each month.  Does not count towards your CE credits but does increase your knowledge.  The Charlotte/Mecklenburg area also has a strong chapter.  Check them out. 

We'll be starting work on the ASHI Carolina's Chapter website shortly (southern NC, northern SC).

When I read the original post I thought "oh oh."  (I know; quite the thought.)
Some of the other message boards are moderated as well.  I don't think Dominic has to use heavy handed tactics to keep this board civil.  We must be civil sort of people here.  Like you, I use this message board more than the other two I use because of the nice atmosphere.  I get soooo fed up with the bashing and arguing.
