TOPIC: Certainteed Shingle Settlement

I have seen the defective shingles many times, they have hairline cracks throughout. I posted info somewhere. I believe the shingles are smaller in size. Usually the architectural type.

I spoke to a roofer about them and he gave me some info,like the smaller size. Now I need to go find the post and reference.

I called it out at least 2X last year and both were on homes about 15 years old. I believe they do not make this shingle anymore.

I've called out a few as well David.  I've spoken with several roofers who feel here in California the lack of proper attic ventilation and excessive heat generated at the roof deck is causing the shingles to degrade.  Some of the interior attic temps I shoot are in the 140-150F range in summer.  I can only imagine how hot that sheathing and or underlayment is, (Muey Caliente).
