Also take into consideration education, as you grow you need more to offer your clients and keep ahead of the pack, I spent around 30K this year in upgrading education, also needed a newer truck,(30k) newer camera (IR) 25k added mold sample pumps (6)@ 700 each, re lettered the truck (1k)
bought lawn signs (2 @ 85) when inspecting, upgraded brochures, biz cards, went to (5) full uniforms 125 each indoor shoes 100 (leather) added and booties for clients to have also tyvek suits with 2 pair coveralls. have 2 laptops and base system for software. got colour laser (base), colour ink jet with fax/scanner for in truck. have online internet stick added now for reasearch and sending client reports onsite, also have tons of stick drive 512k that I had name on so i can give client the report on stick if email is a problem or i do it to a cd if they prefer. i dropped 25% in residential, gained 15% in commercial and mold and IAQ are steady, IR is picking back up but doing bigger and better jobs now with better camera. it is all relevent, spend back into your self and you will grow bigger, start to figure which path you are gonna do. I do 6 commercial inspections a month, and it equals 18 homes, i spend the other days marketing and enjoying the wife and kids, i work less home more and still make the same coin. and as a self employed businessman thats what matters i have more time to enjoy and less stress. plus i am becoming an education junkie, gonna go for my P.Eng this september. the best marketing is shaking hands, talking, meeting, bringing brochures and biz cards, offering to help out with a quick looksie and offer your agents telephone support as thier go to guy, they will love you for it. my 2 cents worth |
