TOPIC: Basement Wall Insulation Fire Ratings

Basement Wall Insulation Fire Ratings 14 years 5 months ago #32976

A lot of newer construction basement walls are insulated and covered with a white plastic vapor barrier film, which looks like it is a separate add-on over the standard fiberglass insulation.  I know that most insulation manufacturers that produce a vapor retarder-faced insulation have caution labels which state that the retarder is flammable and should not be left exposed. Practically all of this white plastic covering that I see has no labels or identification whatsoever.  Can anyone point me to a reference which identifies this covering and its flammability performance and acceptable use in this application?

Thanks as usual, DrBob

Make sure you click on Browse next to Attach and then select your image. Click More Attachments if you have more than 1. When you're done, click on Post.

Been there done that--I'm sure my files are somewhere between Pluto and the beginning of the universe, but they won't help us in the vacuum of space.  Can't figure out why this isn't obvious. ???

I'm not sure what could go wrong. What type of file are they and what are the file sizes?
