TOPIC: Using HIP with Inspection notes.

Marcel could make 2 laminated copies. Tablets are awesome but cant be taken outside below freezing without a case.

Marcel, being from the colder region I understand your dilema. Use the blank as suggested, but skip the grease pen, won't work if you have a few in a row. Use a voice recorder, you can find them for 30 or 40 bucks. Get one that has folders in it. tha way you can use one folder for each inspection. Works for me, and it won't freeze up. ;)

I just started using a voice recorder due to hurting my writing hand and I'm loving it now.  It speeds things up big time!!!  I do most of my report from memory and the pics anyways.  But if I need to go back to something I have it recorded.  I can also save the recording to my computer.

John

Sorry to hear about your hand.

What type of voice recorder device are you using? How do you use it?

Thanks for the time.

Its an RCA digital voice recorder model RP5120-A.  www.rcaaudiovideo.com/product.aspx?product=393

Right now I use it to take all my notes.  I hit record when I want to record and hit it again when I want to pause it.  There is a feature I have been playing with that voice activates the unit but I think if I'm going to use that feature I need to get a little mic and turn down the sensitivity on the recorder.  Right now it picks up all the sounds of me working and tries to record it.

Down side to this unit is it takes two AAA batteries.  I seem to go through them about every two to three inspections.  I'm thinking of getting rechargeable batteries for it so I don't have to keep throwing away money on them every few inspections.

Hey Marcel,

Many guys use a laptop or tablet and enter the info directly on site.

If you want to write it out, what guys in your freezing cold region do is click Generate Report to print a blank report with all the sections. Get it laminated and use a grease pen so you can take it outside and write on it. Then take home, enter into computer and wipe clean. There's another post on here where guys talked about this method.

Check out the Beta section and download the latest version (it's been used for awhile now and there's not been any issues). It added 2 more residential templates, another commercial template and a mold template.

How can I make this laminated report form. If I don't fill out the report the only thing that shows is the main topic, no checked spaces or sub-folders. How can I fix this issue? ::)
