Peter I am determined to make this new idea work despite software limitations.

Just turned down two clients in last 10 minutes including a guy who used me in 2008 because of reports dragging me down.

Here's the issue I see right now. I could add a batch slotting feature into the MISC section. But then you are having to go back to the main section in HIP (click Home button) then click MISC. I can't add the batch import type slotting within each section as many inspectors take the pictures when they are in the actual section. How much longer does it take to take the pics in MISC and slot at home vs take on mobile? I would think taking pics in MISC and slotting at home would be the fastest.

Have you guys gone on any ridealongs with inspectors that are finishing 90-100% on site using HIP mobile?

I am through with misc unless you add ability to slot after taking the pic.
There is no drop downs so you are better off creating a pseudo category and creating drops.

I would like to use material section for pics but forgot there is no dropdowns for that.
Could have then simply used captions for material comments.

Hi Dominic

Quote from tread.

Quote
Ah, there lies the biggest problem. You have everything setup system by system but inspect room by room. This will always greatly increase inspection and reporting time o site.
This would not be a problem if the software would allow the pictures to be taken room by room and allow those pictures to allocated in the report section by section as per the Batch import feature in HIP Desktop.

Quote
Why are you not commenting at the same time you're taking the picture. You're stating that you have to go back again to add your comments? This should be done at the same time, cutting your clicks in half.
The above quote shows a disconnect between software programming and the reality of recording information on site and producing a good report. For example taking pictures of defects as you survey a property will allow you to present an overview of the property with pictures and specific Captions on pictures. However it is to early to be commenting on any system/s as a detailed understanding of the overall condition of any system/s would only be determined well into a property inspection and making comments early on is away too premature. Making overall comments on any system should be left to the end of an inspection, while making specific comments can be make on the fly with the understanding that these comments may need to be edited at the end of the inspection.

From my point of view the ability to slot photos into any random section and add captions (whilst being in any section) would significantly speed up on site collection of photos during an inspection. Maybe to have this type of feature in not possible in HIP Mobile.

Bear in mind for good report writing overall / general comments should not be made until an full understanding of the property is known. This does not hold for Photo taking as they show individual defects that can be added on the fly.
