TOPIC: reporting and template questions

reporting and template questions 10 years 8 months ago #57341

I am still working out some bugs with my program and looking for some help. On the cover page footer tab I try to center some information, but it keeps printing on the right side of the report. I can't figure out how to make the font for summary report larger.  When I try to add a comment on my ipad to my boiler plate most of the time it won't accept it. I had to erase and rewrite a section that was already assigned. Anybody else have experience with any of these issues?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

For the footer, close HIP, go to C:\Program Files\Home Inspector Pro\Data and delete the Footer.xml. Then try again and see if centering works properly.

Summary font is controlled by serious damage font under Report Settings->Formatting.

Did you scroll to the bottom of the section on your iPad to see if your comment is there?

Thanks for the help Dominic. I will work on the footer and summary when I get home today. When I was working on a report on my iPad and tried to write something and hit the save, but it just stayed on that sentence and did not save it. Sometimes it did and other times it didn't save it . Today it seems to be working fine. I will post if it happens again. Question If I was working on my template on my desktop yesterday but I did not upload that template to the cloud. Today I'm working the template that was previously on the cloud on my iPad. Can I merge the two together to save all the comments that I've added on both?

Thanks for helping

Yes, you can take an inspection that you used with the template, merge it with another file File->Import/Merge and save the template.

I have a couple of questions about formatting on Home Inspector Pro. The first one is that of trying to get a logo on there the right size. It's not an issue of getting it there, but rather getting it there so that it can be seen. It's small and even with Levi's help, I can't seem to get it right. Assuming that the width of a page is 8.5 inches, and I requested and was sent a logo that was supposed to be 3 inches in diameter, that would take up about one third of the page, but it's about the size of a quarter. That's the first question if anyone can help.

The second question is....I would like to put a color banner across the different sections of the report like the kitchen, bathroom, laundry, etc. I think that would create a nice start/stop point breaking up the different sections. Is that an available option? I've tried lots of different options and even went to the tutorials and they don't seem to be up to date with the latest version of HIP.
Help!

Thanks,

Dean

The logo is limited by height only. The width of the logo can be nearly across the page but the height can only be from below the title at the top of the cover page down to the top of the photo in the center of the page.

If you have a logo file and there is any white space at the top and bottom of the logo, trim that white space off and then reinsert the logo into HIP. That will make a logo as big as you can possibly get it outside of using the stationery feature.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the colored banners, are you talking about the titles that go before each component within the section? So for instance under the "plumbing" section you might have Supply piping, waste piping, water heater. Are you wanting a different color for each of those secondary titles?
