TOPIC: Using your Android phone for pics

Get the USB battery packs. I have a good one that I can get 3 full charges out of. I take it with to conferences and will just put it in my pocket and tether it when I start to run low (usually at the airport late at night).

The more pics the better for referance. If I am getting busy and I get backed up on reports then a quick run through the pics brings me back into the moment for labeling and touching up comments.  Thanks Dom for the mention of USB battery packs.  I think I saw them at Best Buy and wasn't sure if they were the animal I was looking for.

I added a Mophie Juice Pack to my phone which has been a tremendous help.

I take a lot of pictures, but not as many as you. I don't see any reason to put 100 pictures in an inspection report program (especially if they're just for reference).

I use a camera as a recording device. It's on and running 100% of the time. Some photographs cannot be taken with a phone camera and must be added later anyway.

When I'm done with a floor, section of the house, or the complete inspection, I go back and enter all the important issues into hip that I want in the report (all at one time). This saves you from turning the camera on and off. It speeds up the inspection process (even though it seems like you're going back and redundantly walking through the house). A lot of issues are not issues once you're done with the inspection. Some have associated defects in other parts of the house which need to be placed in one section of the report. Doing this all at one time keeps your phone from having to run the program during the entire inspection process. I can do the complete report in about 15 minutes once the inspection is completed. How long does it normally take you guys to add in one thing at a time as you go?

I also turn on my phone's voice recorder and dictate all the discrepancies, locations and concerns and later plug it into the office computer to be transcribed by voice recognition program. No need to hunt and search for appropriate narratives, just drag-and-drop into the report section where it belongs based upon where the pictures show up.

We do a like new house in 1 hr.  A bank repo in about 2 hrs.  Thats with two inspectors and usually we do an additioinal wind mit inspection which is included in the time.  I'm a on the fly type inspector.  Android in one hand camera in the other.  Just starting to think about using the android camera. I want to make my pics labels as captions while I'm in the phone only on the items that need repair. It sounds like you are able to transfer from your camera to the computer with wi fi.  Is that true. I like that concept. It may be a little to tecchy for me.

You just turn the camera selector dial to "wi-fi" and click "OK" when it connects.
