TOPIC: HIP Mobile ease of use

Hello, new to this forum.  I am looking at purchasing HIP as my software, I am currently using Palm Teck and was wondering what people overall impression was on the ease of use in the field.  Also what devices does everyone use, I was planning on doing the reporting on myt android phone and then linking to my laptop for the final report, any thoughts.

I don't mind buying a separate tablet with keyboard if that will make things easier, just don't want to spend the extra money if it is not necessary.

Any General thoughts or comments on the mobile apps, or the software in general would be appreciated.

HIP on mobile phones is great. While some guys are using an Android tablet too and loving it, I actually recommend getting a Windows Tablet if you want to get something that large. The HP Slate 2 runs Windows 7, is much faster than an Android tablet and more importantly, has excellent handwriting recognition which Android barely has and iPad is completely lacking. Plus you won't need to purchase a separate HIP mobile license and you can finish 100% of the inspection on the device. Basically my recommendation is Android if you want phone size (and iPhone when HIP mobile for iPhone comes out) and an HP Slate 2 or CTL2GO NL3 if you want tablet size. But, to each their own!

Dom do you have an ETA for HIP mobile on iOS

I hope to have it done for the Vegas conference in October but I don't want to make any promises. I have 3 other conferences next month and a ton of features we're trying to get implemented right now.

The New iPad with voice command and improved gestures is fantastic and faster than any other device I have tried including android and windows based tablets. The camera is not great but we use high quality cameras with EyeFi cards which automatically download the photos to our device as we take them.

You will no longer need to keep up with a stylus or use hand writing recognition, just speak and whala it appears in text within seconds. I am really impressed with the accuracy of the voice to text, much better than Dragon. No need for a stylus or keyboard, I really like the new functionality and Apple devices are very rugged and mostly bug free with plenty of battery power.

Still waiting anxiously for HIP for iOS, until then we are forced to use inferior Apps or carry a netbook with us on home inspections.

Do you have clients and agents around when you're using voice recognition on site?
