TOPIC: Loosing Data

Hi,

Anyone loosing data after saving to client date folder. It just happen today twice on different computers.

Once we lost data in the report and the second time we lost the photos but the pages for the photos were still there (30 pages/tabs)?

Hi Steve,

Are you sure you're clicking Save Inspection? The most common reasons I see for things like this are guys forgetting to save, or accidentally saving Inspection A over Inspection B. How much ram do you have on this machine and how many photos are you importing? Also, what version of Home Inspector Pro are you using (check under About->About). Have you had this problem before?

Thanks Dominic,

I am loading about 150-200 photos. The version of HIP is 2.8.2. We have 4Gig on the laptop and 3 Gig on the desktop.

We have saved over 150 inspections this way, not sure whats happened. This has never happened before?

Have you switched camera's lately by any chance? Maybe to a higher resolution camera?
Was this the same report on  both machines?

Dominic,

I am taking a 5 meg photo, the camera is the same one I have been using. My son Jason whom helps me on every inspection uses a camera that is 3 Megs.

The reason for high res photos is the ability to zoom in and see the breaker sizes if needed, or any other things we need to see up close.

Maybe we did something wrong while saving as this is the first time this has happened.

That's possible too. Go ahead and save this inspection under multiple file names, i.e smith-1, smith-2 as you're working on it so you can roll back a version if you have a problem. Let me know how it goes. We have had some experiences in the past with people running out of ram and having an issue but it's been very rare and usually on machines with very little ram. Keep me updated though.
