What Bob said. The colors are in the template (.tpz) file. Copy the template, colors come with it. The templates store within them what documents are needed. Copy the docs over and you're set (as you said).
I think Bob's pointing out that each inspection file in Client Data also stores a copy of the template used within it (the .tpz). So you can actually transfer a client inspection (.hzf) and when you move it to another machine to finish working on the report, hit Save Template and the template from the inspection will update the template on the machine automatically (except for the documents). Wow, that was too long of a sentence! Let me know if that makes sense. |

Long day. Momma told me there'd be days like these ;D
Anyway, I will tinker with the "new wheels" tomorrow as it's a light day. I do see exactly what you're saying Dominic when it comes to Xfering from machine to machine, implementing it will hopefully goes as well. I am going to pick a template, then modify/create a hybrid of systems and rooms.. leaving me "outs" as to be able to copy/paste template sections of interior areas on the fly.. I run into homes with 2 master bedrooms... or different distinct areas. I see many of the templates here with the BATHROOM lumped in with appliances or some other areas.. why not have a tab with Bathrooms so as to be able to copy/paste different sections as needed? I'm probably missing something, but I'm new I can see areas like the Kitchen in the same tab as other sections as I'm likely to only run into ONE KITCHEN to a home... but ones I'm likely to have to modify or similar, shouldn't they be in their own tab? Also, I've seen the Commercial Templates... There needs ;D to be an apartment template with relevant SITE / Grounds / Commons / Accessibility and to some extent there is. BUT, Has anyone created a TAB with the inerts of an Interior area for say APT 1 then copy/paste to 2 etc.. You could do this for small to medium strip malls and small commercial buildings as well. I'll do what I can, time permitting. |

Most people have bathrooms, kitchen, etc as a totally separate page and then they'll Edit Template->Copy the page as many times as they need (one per bathroom). Some others still just use one page for the bathrooms then notate the location on the issue. For example, Toilet was leaking in Bathroom #1,#3 where the location legend at the top of the page says #1 Master Bathroom, #2 Downstairs Bathroom, #3 Jack & Jill Bathroom.
Russ Spriggs in Residential Template 2 uses a single tab for a bathroom. This method isn't used too often, but he loves as do the guys that use his template. To each their own! They great thing about the program is that people can inspect and report the way they want. See the post under General Program Questions on the boards discussing the different methods here. I'm sure you already have your own. There's a few duplex templates, some guys use the commercial template for apartments. That's how the 300 unit Azusa Pacific University report was done on the sample page (a VERY old report, one of the first with HIP). I need to get some more samples from other guys to put up there. I have quite a few in my inbox, just need to get permission. Obviously feel free to create and share. Since we don't resell templates, guys sharing has become a great benefit to all users. |
