TOPIC: Using HIP for a 3 Family Inspections

Using HIP for a 3 Family Inspections 14 years 4 months ago #33710

Hi. all and hope all is good.

I have already talked to my friend Dennis on this one,and was a great help to me,  but thought a good discussion would be good for me and others on this matter.

A realtor is working on a 3 family sale and contacted me for bussiness cards.
I would like to get prepared in case.

How and what is the procedure in reporting a 3 family with HIP?

Do you use the template as normal and identify the area by Apt. 1, Apt. 2, and Apt. 3 or is there another way of doing it other than 3 individual reports.

Some of you inspectors that have done some of these, could you give me a price range using a base fee of $300 for a one family home under 2,000 sf..
I am assumming that all 3 would be two bedrooms, one basement, and on heating plant and three electrical panels.

Appreciate any input.

Thanks in advance.  :)

You have a few options.

1. Do 3 separate reports.
2. Do 1 report setup the normal way and identify the apartment with the issue. If you're commenting on a kitchen sink just add in apt 1 at the end.
3. Click on Edit Template and click on copy for each item and copy the kitchen 3 times renaming them Kitchen in Apt 1, etc.

Thanks Dom, but item 3 has me baffled on how to do it and what to type in in each step.

Caveman here.  ;D

Click Edit Template. From here you can click on any page like the Kitchen and click copy to make another identical Kitchen page but with a new name, like Kitchen in Apt #2. It'll automatically appear in the rest of your program and you can then inspect as usual, with extra pages.

Thanks Dom, finally figured it out last weekend. Like I have said this Caveman is slow but get it eventually.
Was amazed as to how easy it was.  ;D

Thank you again for the help.

Glad you got it Marcel :) Funny, we just put up the animated tutorial on how to do it a few days ago too. But sounds like the caveman got it on his own ;)
