TOPIC: Introduce Yourself!

I am 40 yrs. old. Happily married w/ two beautiful daughters. After high school I went to work as an hvac service tech for 12 yrs. eventually working my way up to management. I could only handle 3 yrs. of that with the long hours and stress not to mention missing a lot of important family time. My wife an I had a long discussion and thought it would be best for a career change. Home inspection was it. I went to school for it, passed the national exam along w/ my state exam and got my license. I joined INACHI and and got my website w/ HIP. I do not regret the occupation change one bit. Now that I have the seo thing going for me business has been slowly increasing. Thanks to everyone again for linking. Hope everyone has a great year.

My name is Greg and it's been six weeks since my last post.  You laughing?  I spent 26 years in dedicated and stressful service for our country in the USAF.  I began as an enlisted troop for eight years, then went to OTS and pilot training.  Combat veteran with over 120 combat missions from Bosnia to Kosovo, Osama land and Iraq and so many other "great" places I never hope to travel to EVER again.  I came from a construction family but remained military instead of inheriting the family business.  Instead of flying for United or Southwest like my peers, I'm inspecting homes (which I love) and seeing baby Ella grow.  Ella is our six-month old baby girl.  I have a wonderful wife, Carrie, who loves that I'm home and tells me when "baby needs a new pair of shoes". 

I started inspecting in the late 90s while stationed in GA but dissolved the business after a couple years because of Uncle Sam's requirements.  I had a great job lined up following my U-2 flying but it didn't follow through.  I have a few degrees but they aren't important because they don't make me treat my clientele differently. 

I'm honored to be a HIPPIE and look forward to helping us all make a great deal of cash without working really hard or spending a lot of time away from our families.  Stay with us and you'll learn...

My name is David Macy. I am 48 years old and my birthday is June 8th. I am married to my wife Julie and have a 8 year old son Tyler. We also have a one year old dog Maggie.

I started my business in 2001. I had no prior background or training. I had my house inspected in 2000 and the inspector did a poor job. The original inspector never showed and the one that did the inspection missed several major items. I thought I could at least show up and provide a quality service to prospective clients.

I did an online course through AHIT and went to Hondros College.

I have done about 1350 inspections. Most in the last 5 years.

I am licensed for radon and WDI. I have not done a WDI inspection in 6 weeks.

I recently attempted to become Certified to do Energy audits but fell short of the 80% requirement for the test. I then became busy with inspecting and have not had the time to try to restudy the course. Having a building background would have benefited me in the course as I did miserably in the building plans portion.

I think the RESNET is way to involved for what I want to do for energy audits. I need to step back and really think out the proper training, techniques and tools to use for providing energy audits for my clients.

I did achieve the 2007 and 2008 Super service award for Angie's list and also was nominated at best contractor in NE Ohio for 2008.

I enjoy the professionalism knowledge and willingness to help others of the members of this board. It is truly a pleasure to know everyone. I really think Dominic is one of the best people I have known. I still have not personally met him but hope to one day.
