Hope you didn't get injured too badly Doug. Sooner or later that will get all of us. Hope my time is later. My dad did that once, but I think it was mostly because he was too darn old and proud to be up there and wouldn't ask for help. Hope you're OK.

Was there not a walkway in the attic space? I try to avoid walking these attics if I have no floor to walk on or if trusses are completely buried in insulation. I just make sure and disclose why the entire attic couldnt be inspected. I just started doing this within the past few months. I had a couple of occasions where I was close to going through and just decided it is not worth it. What is your stand on attic walking Ian?

No injuries, really, except to my pride 

Yea there was a walkway but there was a hole. I noticed it on the way in but due to a split second of inattention on the way out bamb!

Client said that if the home owner could live with the hole he would fix it after he moved in.

PS I never walk an attic if there are no walkboards.

Frank-My stand is that I walk them all. But, But, But, I am a smaller person, topping out a whopping 145, and in fairly good shape. It is a little easier for me to find my way without the walkway if need be than another guy that might be 50 lbs heavier. As I get older though, I tend to move a bit slower and look around for the best path more than I used to. There are cases where I just can't get through it though. Some new constructions around here have blown in insulation that is up to my knees, so that's a no go without a walk way in most cases. Gotta protect ourselves first, then our clients.
