TOPIC: Insurance Adjusters

I can see that.   I don't really want to be a public adjuster, I'm lookin more at the independent adjuster side of things.  I just started reading the book and I'll see how if this is something I want to do or not. 

What I would really like to do is appraisals.  But here in Oklahoma you have to work under someone for a certain number of hours and no one will hire you because they want to keep things in the family and friends.

Indiana is that way to...I first looked into appraising but realized HI was easier to get licensed and go out on your own...who wants to train someone to be a competitor?

No one does.  That's the beauty of it if we can push that law for HI.  Then we can control who gets into it and who doesn't.  Then we can raise our prices to fit where they should be.

Yeah I started to set up an account with a couple of companies to do these.  I just want quite sure how it would work and the emails I got from them almost seemed like spam so I didn't do it.

Who did you go through?

I tried a few different ones to start, but was most satisfied with Digital Draw Network (DDN) www.drawnet.com/

Their website is the most user friendly, which makes it quick,easy, and painless to get it done. If you have wireless internet, you can download the photos and update the requested fields in your truck/car before you leave te site and be done with it. Plus they are very good about paying every 2 weeks.

Okay thanks.  I'll look into it a little more tomorrow.  I do have one question though.  When they send out the info saying they want you to go check out a house, do they send that to just you or do they send that to all inspectors in that area that work with them and its first come first served?

Just you. And you have to accept the request, which is easy to do within the email they send to you. If you don't accept it, they will call you the next bus day before assigning it to someone else.

You may want to call and talk to them first, just to see if they need inspectors in your area. I've done commercial draws fro them as well, pays a little better ($150 a pop) but they are more cumbersome as you have to meet a project manage on-site...now you are getting into scheduling a time, dealing with people, and for only $150. On slow days i did not mind, but when my schedule was full it became a drag. The residential stuff was rarely inconvenient though, just didn't pay as much.
