TOPIC: Do you print your inspection reports on site.

Most of the guys that I see who still print on site are in particular areas in the country like Southern California where homes are newer, don't have basements and people want things now, now now. Other guys have opted for 'green' reports. Even if they finish on site they'll upload or email it. If you email it on site the clients phone will even buzz with the report a few minutes later.

I don't print onsite, too long too expensive.

I email them the 40-70 pg. PDF HIP report usually same day and at the latest 24 hrs from time of inspection. I take tons of notes and it takes time to input it all into HIP.

I also use InterNACHI's online inspection agreement feature. It's free and I love it. No more faxing etc. I get an email as soon as the client reads it and agrees to the it.

Add a contract via a webform directly to your website, it'll increase your traffic to your site and still accomplish the same thing.

How do you add a contract via webform Dominic, I would love to do it! I have not done a webform before... If you could just point me in the direction, I can take it from there..

Hey Dominic, Not sure how the webform works?  I added an agreement and published it.... Will people be able to sign this in this some way an if so how do I set that up.. and do I have to email it too them each inspection? Is this a document that I can set up for them to electronically sign? If so how? I see like footnote numbers and things I have no idea what they are? and now I published it but can not find it on my site! DOH

I reviewed your sample report.  Noticed you included very many pictures of the interiors as well as pictures of things that are correct and functioning as normal.  I got confused looking for defect pictures that would follow 4-8 pictures of normal/correct stuff.  What kind of response have you gotten from clients regarding the vast amounts of pics vs. trying to locate the defects in your report?

There is home inspector lore that ocassionally defects show up in pictures that a home inspector overlooked.  By including general photos of every room from several angles, you may be opening yourself up to potentially under reporting defects discovered after the inspection.  I mentored under the state licensing board investigator.  He said he loved when reports included wide angle photos because he was almost guareented to find additional defects in the photos besides the one the clients were complaining about.  

Can you explain how the vast amounts of pictures of things that are correct help your clients learn more about the defects in the home?
