TOPIC: Dryer vent

Dryer vent 14 years 9 months ago #28037

Anyone know for sure if you can run two dryers into one vent ? This is in a condo and the client wants to install a dryer in their unit and vent it to the complex's service area which is on the party wall to their unit. The building Dept. is closed or else I would just ask them

I am thinking their second problem would be that the party wall is also a fire wall and they can not penetrate that wall with an open vent ??

I do not know for certain, but I would say no, not allowed.

Also, did they check with their HOA to see if a dryer is allowed in their unit? My guess would be it's not, as it could potentially affect other units (noise, vibrations, etc...).

Thanks for the reply, I have them looking into the covenants for the building but I think the fire wall will also be a problem. The existing vent is 4" solid pipe and I have not located the outlet

Wouldn't you run the risk of having exhaust back draft into whichever system is not in use?  I'm guessing there's a capacity issue with the common vent idea as well....
