TOPIC: Decra Metal Shingle Inspection

Ian, I have some things to look for...while I've never inspected these, it's info I've gathered from a local roofer.  The biggest issue he's seen is that the granules come off.  Generally piled in the gutters or on the ground.  The tin is still good (which is what's covered in their warranty), but the granules are worthless.  He said to look for scrapes on the shingles.  When they bundle them up, they interlock somehow and if they aren't pulled apart carefully, they'll dig into the shingles below before even installed.  He said to watch out for the end seams; there's a channel for water drain there and if it's walked on, it'll crush down.  Otherwise, he liked the product, just didn't see the point of doing it if they aren't going to look like shingles in a few years!  Hope that helps!
