OH yes they are....
Here is a pics of a buddy of mine just last month. I wont show his face but this pic will get the point across. His house was being broke into and he grabbed his gun went to the door and opened it. When he opened it, the crook kicked it and knocked the gun out of his hand. They both struggled to get the gun and the crook got the better of him. Shot him and ran. |

I did an inspection once on a house where the seller was a retired Green Beret, retired FBI and was then working as a detective. In every closet, even the kitchen pantry, and in a couple of specially framed pictures on the wall, somewhere in virtually every room, was a pistol velcroed to the wall above the door or behind something. He could open the door no matter where he was, reach up and have a weapon.
Unfortunately we don't know when something like what happened to your friend is going to take place. This particular seller I speak of understands that fact. The next time something like this happens to your friend, and it likely won't, but who knows -- he will remember NOT to open the door. Wait until the guy comes in and from a place the intruder cannot see the homeowner should simply take him out. No argument. He is not coming into the house to say hello. When you are armed you must stay away from whomever is attacking or approaching you. Most police who are killed in the line of duty are killed with their own weapon! They lose it in a struggle and that's it. Looking at that photo, that was a large caliber, but a light load - lucky it didn't break his arm. Must be a .38 because the bullet stayed inside and he still has a bicep. Larger, like a .357 or .44 and he would not have his upper arm! The thief must have kept the weapon. |

It was a 40 cal if I'm not mistaken. His entry was larger than the exit, the bullet shredded inside him. They are still trying to get it all out.
We all kinda shook our heads when he said he opened the door. He knows better, he has his CWL just like I do. He knows what the laws are! |

Jay, the meeting will go to around 10pm. It's not just me talking, it's also Ben Gromicko, FLIR, H.E.L.P. and Mike Crow. I haven't planned out my stay yet but will probably spend the night there. We can definitely go out before or after!
