Cameron, I always call out any double taps...neutrals, hots, whatever. I've had electricians laugh at me (Everyone does it, what's the big deal)...but I still do it.

If you have mulitple wires under a single lug, both wires may not have good contact which can lead to arcing.
Multiple wires of different sizes and the larger wire will get held by the lug but the smaller wire rattles around leading to arcing. Read the specific panel label. Most allow up 2 grounds of the same AWG under a single lug. Some allow up to 3 ground of the AWG under a single lug. |

I am not sure if you have K&T, but I think it isn't. I see cloth covered wiring and most likely that is tin clad copper. K&T has a rubberized insulation as mentioned by the other guys. |

My feelings are hurt! (Enough said)! LOL!!! Yes... K&T has a cloth mesh jacket, No... K&T does not (normally) have rubberized insulation, No... K&T should never be bare wire, Yes... that appears to be tinned copper, No... That is not aluminum, Yes... Aluminum has a "Plastic" type insulation, Yes... I have seen a home re-wired utilizing the old "Knobs" and "Tubes" with THHN and no grounding wire !!! Friggin' Harry !!! |
