Check out Intuit's "GoPay" system.  I have it running on my Android smartphone and it works sweet.
$12.95/month, $0.30 per transaction and 1.7% if you swipe card (they have readers for most smartphones), 2.7% if you hand enter. Money hits my account in 24 hours and I can email a receipt from the phone or the desktop app.
Much faster turn around than PP which takes 4-5 days to get the money. I have a PP premium acct as well.

There is no Monthly Fee with Square...
If you get the Credit Card volume to warrant the monthly fee, I might do so, Most of my customers are cash or check.
