Re: PDA/LAPTOP/TABLET 15 years 2 weeks ago #23740

It might be cheaper to get the ram upgrade from them depending on how many open slots are in the tablet. If they only have 1 slot you'd need to buy a 2 gig chip to replace the 1 gig. If there's 2 slots and they're only using 1 then getting another 1 gig cheap could be cheaper (don't forget to include shipping too).

I agree - has anyone opened theirs uptosee what is available, slot-wise?  What operating system do you recommend (I'm still using XP at home).

XP is fine. You're just using these for HIP and maybe some internet browsing so it really doesn't make a difference.

Well I just ordered the CTL2go Tablet and upgraded to 2GB of Ram. I have yet to get a response from CTL from all of the emails I sent them but I was able to get a live person to answer the phone this moring. For those who are interested, there is only 1 slot for memory on this unit.
I have read that some inspectors are having problems with the handwriting program crashing, the sales rep I spoke to stated they have never had a complaint regarding that issue. I have also heard others having problems with the accelerometor not working properly when you turned the screen, the rep stated they were aware of this problem and there is a driver update on their website. I was told it should be about a 2 day poduction time and standatd shipping to Illinois about 4 days, I guess if I get it before the end of the month I will be happy.

I asked about the memory slot before I purchased.  They told me it was one slot, so you would have to replace the one gig with the two gig like Dom said.

I looked on eBay at prices and you could buy the two gig for half the price what they well it for.

Also they said that if I did it myself and had to return the computer for repair they could not guarantee I would get my two gig memory chip back.  So I went with the one gig, and will probably upgrade it myself at some point in the future.  Main thing is to do what your comfortable with.  I just didn't want to spend the extra money at this point in time for the extra memory.

Ahh cool, I'll have to get the driver update. I did have an issue when demoing it the other day, but just used the manual rotate instead. I still haven't had the handwriting program crash on me but it seems the few guys who did haven't had the problem any more. The driver update might be the fix if there was some sort of conflict.
