TOPIC: New software ideas

Re: New software ideas 16 years 4 months ago #2050

Yes I’m having difficulty explaining what Im going for here.  I sure wish I could show you instead.

I found that I can turn off the printing for certain sections and that what I'll have to do for the time being.

But your program is already set up that it won’t print if no comments are used and that’s the feature I am trying to exploit.

By adding the extra level it would mean I wouldn’t have to go in and turn on and off the print feature for individual sections.  The report would print 'Interior' and then print whatever areas I've inspected under that heading.

Basically its adding just a little bit more flexibility to the software.

Oh, so you just want it to automatically not print a section like Kitchen if you haven't made any comments on it? If that's the case, that is on the to-do list as well.

Note that the main sections, Interior, Exterior, Utilities do not print on the report anywhere. They are purely for organizational means. You can go to Edit Template, create a new menu called John's Residential and drag everything from all the other menus into it and delete the other menus.

I can't do that.

Hey David,

Yes you can.

First you need to click on Edit Template.
Click on the Menus Folder.
Type in the new name at the bottom left, like "Dave's Residential"
Click on Dave's Residential, type something like temp in the bottom box and click add (you have to add one item before dragging).
Now you can drag all the other pages under this menu.
When you're done, delete the 'temp' page you created.

Let me know if that works ok for you.

OK, I didn't try it yet but I didn't make a sub-file first before dragging.

Thanks

Sure thing. I looked at making it not require making a subfile first but it will take some time as it requires a partial rewrite of the editor to accomplish. I'm more interested in getting some of the other features done with first, then I'll take care of stuff like that.
