A new chapter for Home Inspector Pro and the inspectors we serve

chris-schuld

There are moments that signal a shift in direction. This is one of them.

Chris Schuld, co-founder of Inspection Support Network and one of the original architects of the inspection software ecosystem we’re part of, is returning as Director of Engineering, Inspection. That means he’ll be leading engineering across Home Inspector Pro, ISN, Palmtech, America’s Call Center, Guardian Inspection Payments, and Inspector Services Group.

For Home Inspector Pro customers, this is worth paying attention to.

An engineer who understands the field

Chris isn’t an outside hire who will spend the next year learning what home inspection software needs to do. He built the foundation of this ecosystem from scratch. He understands the pressure of getting a report out soon after leaving a property. He knows how much time a slow comment library costs an inspector on a busy day. He gets it — at a code level, and at a business level.

After leaving Porch in 2021, Chris founded several technology startups, then went on to oversee U.S. engineering at Wix.com, one of the largest web platforms in the world, serving hundreds of millions of users. During his startup years, he went deep on AI; and not the buzzword version, but the practical kind. He learned how to apply modern models to create genuinely better experiences for real businesses and real users. That’s a perspective Home Inspector Pro customers stand to benefit from directly.

The inflection point

The inspection industry is changing faster than at any point in the last decade. Clients expect more. Agents expect more. And inspectors who are running businesses under real time pressure deserve tools that keep up.

HIP has always been built around the field: fast mobile report writing, collaborative inspections, cross-platform flexibility, multilingual output. Those strengths don’t go away. What Chris’s return signals is that the pace of innovation behind them is about to accelerate.

AI is becoming foundational to what great inspection software can do, from how reports are written, to how findings are flagged, to how inspectors communicate with clients. HIP is part of an ecosystem that is investing in exactly this. With Chris leading engineering across the full platform, that investment has a clear focal point.

What inspectors can expect

Chris put it plainly: “What drew me back are the people on this team and the almost unlimited opportunities we have to build incredible software for home inspectors. I’m looking forward to working with our teams to build the best overall software and services platform for inspectors, and I’m excited to push the envelope and accelerate our pace of innovation.”

For HIP users, that translates into a simple commitment. The software you use to do your best work is going to keep getting better — and it’s going to do so with real urgency behind it.

We’re not standing still. The inspection industry’s next chapter is being built now, and Home Inspector Pro is going to be a big part of that story.

Stay tuned, there’s more to come.
